Puri: Special guidelines will be formulated for managing the affairs of the Mahalakshmi temple located within the premises of Sri Jagannath temple (Sri Mandir) in Odisha’s Puri.
The Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) will now manage the affairs of the Mahalakshmi temple which will be reviewed every three months.
Further, all ornaments belonging to Mahalakshmi will be counted and examined, an inventory of which will be drawn up.
Henceforth, all ornaments and patas (silk robes of the deity) will be issued from the central store of the SJTA.
Special guidelines will be formulated for issuing these materials to sevayats (temple servitors) from the central store of Sri Mandir.
The practice of maintaining a secondary storeroom like that in the case of the Mahalakshmi temple will be done away with.
Servitors of Mahalakshmi temple will be barred from accepting any other offering/donation other than dakshina from devotees.
Devotees interested in making any offering or donation to Mahalakshmi will be required to make the same at the SJTA office.
“Henceforth, for managing the affairs of the Mahalakshmi temple a set of special guidelines will be formulated. The guidelines will be issued by the SJTA in form of an order. Everyone will be required to follow the guidelines. All ornaments, patas to be used for the deity will be issued from the Sri Mandir’s central store. Sevayats will no longer be allowed to remove ornaments or other articles of the deity neither can they maintain a secondary store as they are doing now.
