Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 10:
Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand today broke the meet record at the 35th National Games held here.
Dutee, who is representing Odisha, smashed the meet record in the heats clocking 11.83 sec in the women’s 100m sprint surpassing the previous mark of 11.84 sec set by H M Jyothi in the 2011.
Besides, the women’s hammer throw gold also went into Odisha’s kitty with Sarita Singh’s effort of 56.47 m.
It may be recalled that 19-year-old star Odisha sprinter, barred from taking part in any competition after failing International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF)’s controversial new hyperandrogenism test, got a partial reprieve when the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), where she had filed an appeal in September last year, allowed her to participate in national events.
The Switzerland-based CAS, however, had made it clear that it was only a provisional ruling and she continues to be barred from taking part in international events till a final decision on her case is decided by the international apex quasi-judicial body on sports.
