As Chennai city remains inundated with a deluge, a software engineer from Odisha is missing since last 2 days in the flooded metro.
A software engineer by profession, Ashok Kumar Rana, works in a software firm in Chennai. A native of Mangalpur in Jajpur district of Odisha, his family members are unable to connect to him. Both his place of residence and office are filled up with water, in the heavy rain.
There is no information about him with his neighbours or friends, this has disturbed his family members back home.
Ashok is among the many missing migrants to the metro whose families are unable to get in touch with their loved ones as the severe flood in the city has snapped communication links in the Tamil Nadu capital.
Meanwhile, Army has been called in to salvage the condition as the heavy rains which continue to lash Chennai has brought the city to a standstill.
As many as 269 deaths have been reported in the city and the financial loss may exceed Rs 15000 crore, according an industry lobby.
All schools and colleges remain closed, with the Tamil Nadu capital getting the heaviest rain fall in the century. More than 11 trains have been cancelled; the Chennai airport is closed till December 6. The weather office in Chennai has predicted more rains in Tamil Nadu for next 4 days due to presence of a low pressure in Bay of Bengal.
