The 45 th annual convention of The Odisha Society of the Americas (OSA) will be held from July 3 to 6 in Ohio this year, OSA sources said.
The venue of the convention will be Hotel Sheraton, Columbus Downtown in Ohio.
The members of OSA in Ohio have invited the Odia diaspora in the US and Canada to attend the rare congregation.
As part of the convention, a symposium entitled ‘ Invest Odisha’ symposium will be organized by the OSA which is observing the first day as the Odisha Development Day.
Some of the key goals for Invest Odisha Symposium are as follows: (a) Promote Odisha as one of the best places in India for investment in different sectors like Information Technology, Biotechnology, Education, Healthcare, Green Energy & Infrastructure etc.
(b) Bring entrepreneurs from overseas & Odisha and help in networking, collaboration, exploration of business opportunity for mutual benefit and benefit of the state at large, (c) Forum for meeting and collaborative initiatives in higher education/research and between inter-governmental entities/agencies (e.g. City, State, Country, International Organizations).
Invest Odisha Symposium 2014 is expected to have large participation of entrepreneurs, investors, business thought leaders from Odisha as well as North America.
This year’s symposium is broadly organized in two tracks with multiple sessions of interest: Track A Invest Odisha would cover entrepreneurship/business opportunities in different sectors, Technology & Innovation, Investment & Funding, Investment Policy & Guidelines, Public-Private-Partnership, Success stories etc.
Track B would be concerned with Higher Education & Research: Covering OSA higher education initiatives, Edu-Oppertunity & Enetrprenureship, Research collaborations, Innovative ideas/approach for educatrional development etc.
Eminent personalities from Odisha including litterateur Dr Bibhuti Pataniak, sand sculptor Sudarsan Patnaik and Odisha Culture & Tourism minister Ashok Panda are likely to attend the comvention.
A professional group of popular entertainers from Odisha, comprising popular Ollywood music director Abhijit Majumdar, comedy actor Papu Pom Pom, playback singers Tapu Mishra and Sohini Mishra and Bishnu Mohan Kabi have been invited to the convention to make it more lively.
The OSA release has exhorted all proud Odias to make a sincere effort to contribute or be part of the Odia activities and sponsor a program or activity available at the convention. Exotic Odia food would be one of the most attractive parts of the annual convention, the release notes,asking all participants to sign up for food coupons.
