Odisha: Sex racket running from rented house busted, 1 held

Ganjam: A sex racket being run from a rented house near a village in Odisha’s Ganjam district today, police said.

The police have managed to nab one man, identified as Bhagban Padhi (44) of Old Berhampur area, along with several objectionable items. Multiple packets of condoms were also recovered from the rented house.

The flesh trade was going on in a house at Annapurna Nagar under Gosani Nuagaon police station here.

Two women were rescued from the spot and later sent to a correction home here after medical examination.

The police have also seized cash of Rs 2000, 3 mobile phones from the house.

Based on inputs, the local police conducted raids on the house and unearthed the flesh trade racket.

The police personnel entered the house in disguise of customers to bust the racket.

“On the basis of information, we had raided the house and arrested one person for allegedly involved in the sex racket,” said Kulamani Sethi, Inspector-In-Charge of Gosani Nuagaon police station.

The flesh trade was running in the rented accommodation for a long time, police said.

The kingpin of the racket, identified as Rajanikanta Behera alias Gopi, is still at large.

A case (152/18) under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered in this regard and the accused Bhagaban and the woman have been forwarded to the court, police added.
