Police today forwarded to the court the three staff of Kendua Sevashram School in Nayagarh district of Odisha arrested yesterday in connection with the death of a girl student of the school due to alleged food poisoning on Saturday.
Acting on an FIR by the victim’s father, who had accused the three of negligence leading to his daughter’s death, Ranpur police had arrested Headmaster Krushna Chandra Sahu, assistant superintendent Sabita Manjari and cook Mamata Biswal of the sevashram on Monday, two days after the incident.
The district collector had placed these three sevashram staff under suspension on August 31.
Meanwhile, a five-member BJP team met the ailing students at Nayagarh district headquarters hospital today.
Briefing newsmen later, the BJP leaders demanded compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the deceased.
It may be mentioned that over 60 students were taken ill after consuming dinner at the Sevashram on the night on August 30.
While one of the students, Mini Majhi of Gajapati died on the way to Tangi hospital, over 30 girl students were later admitted to the hospital. Later, three students were rushed to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar on August 31 as their condition became critical.
