Bhubaneswar, Mar 10:
The Odisha government today urged the Centre to release the arrear assistance of Rs 123.56 crore for infrastructure development of schools in the state under Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA).
In a letter to the Union HRD minister Smriti Irani, School and Mass Education minister Debi Prasad said the state is yet to receive arrear assistance of Rs 123.56 crore which has been approved by the Project Appraisal Board for infrastructure development of schools in the state.
Stating that there has been inordinate delay in the infrastructure development work due to release of the arrear assistance, he requested the Union minister to make efforts for early release of the funds to expedite the development work.
RMSA is a Centrally sponsored programme initiated in 2009-10 to universalise secondary education by making good quality education available, accessible and affordable to all children within the age group of 14–18 years with strong focus on the elements of gender, equity and justice.
