A number of his supporters, who were waiting outside the CBI office, ensured that their leader does not face any questions from media persons, who had been waiting for hours to get Tripathy’s comments.
TV crews and reporters were pushed away while they tried to get Tripathy to speak to them over his marathon interrogation by the CBI officials.
As the TV crews persisted, the supporters of Tripathy turned abusive and manhandled them. Many of them were heard warning the camera persons not to take visuals of their leader.
“We will crush you under the wheels of our vehicles,” one of the supporters was heard shouting.
In the scuffle that followed, the BJD leader slipped and fell down. But he simply refused to talk to the media and was escorted into his vehicle by his supporters.
Tripathy has applied for anticipatory bail in the Odisha High Court. However, the CBI has filed its objections with the court against grant of any such relief to the influential BJD MLA, sources said.
The Central investigation agency is reportedly waiting for the final orders of the High Court on Tripathy’s anticipatory bail plea before taking any further action over allegations of the BJD leader’s complicity in the Artha Tatwa Group’s financial fraud.
