Bhubaneswar, Jun 24:
More than a month after she went missing, there is no trace of Sujata Pradhan, a promising Rugby player of Odisha.
After waiting in vain for their daughter, who went missing on May 18, to return, the worried parents of Sujata have now lodged a complaint with the Nandankanan police station.
Talking to ‘Sambad’, Sujata’s father Kailash Pradhan said his daughter goes out for practice at Kalinga Stadium daily at about 2 PM and returns to the house at Pada Sahi village under Dadha Panchayat at around 7 PM.
“As usual, she had gone for practice on May 18 at about 2 pm in a town bus. But when she did not return, we searched for her frantically. It was impossible for us to locate her whereabouts as both her mobile phones (865844980 and 9692654371) were switched off,” he said.
He also said five days after his daughter went missing, he had gone to Nandankanan police station to lodge a complaint. However, the lady police officer sent him back without accepting the complaint.
“However, following the advice of some senior persons of my village, I went to the police station on Tuesday again and lodged a complaint,” Pradhan said.
He said someone might have abducted his daughter out of jealousy for her sterling performances at the state and national events.
A Plus Two final year student of Kunja Bihari College at Barang, Sujata had won a gold medal in the National Women’s Rugby Championship held this year. Besides, she had also won a gold and silver medal in the under-19 competition at the 60thNational School Rugby Championship in 2014-15.
