Bhubaneswar, Feb 24:
Well known Rights activists Pradip Pradhan and Pradipta Nayak on Monday moved the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC), seeking its immediate intervention in the case of the brutal attack on the Brahmapur-based RTI activist Sunil Mishra on February 19, sources said.
Both the activists met with the OHRC Acting Chairman and apprised him of the details of the case while submitting a petition in the matter in the OHRC court room.
Later, Pradhan met with the DG, Police HQ Sanjiv Marik in his office to help initiate police inquiry into the case. Marik reportedly talked to the SP, Berhampur and asked him to arrest the culprits at the earliest, sources said.
Human rights activit Chandranath Dani has also filed a petition with the National Human Rights Commission seeking justice for the injured RTI activist Sunil Mishra, sources added.
It may be noted here that Mishra was brutally assaulted by goons while he had been to the District Industries Centre in Brahmapur on February 19 to submit a petition alleging corruption and malpractice by the Centre’s manager. He was hospitalised after the attack.
