Odisha Government’s Revenue & Disaster Management Department has achieved an all-time high tax and non-tax revenue in the 2014-15 financial year.
Land revenue collection, which was Rs 431.12 crores in 2013-14, shot up to Rs 638.73 crores in 2014-15. This marks a stunning 48% rise in a year and overshoots the target of Rs 500 crores set for the fiscal by some distance.
Also, the collection of stamp duty and registration fee was 32.52% higher than that of last year.
Against the total stamp duty and registration fee of Rs 599 crores collected during 2013-14, Rs 795.13 crores was collected during the year 2014-15. The annual target for 2014-15 was Rs 700 crores.
Collection of water cess, however, has not been satisfactory despite being higher than last year Against Rs 30.49 crores collected during the year 2013-14, the collection during the year 2014- 15 has been Rs 32.24 crores, which is 9% higher than the previous year.
The overall tax collection by Revenue & DM Department during the year 2013-14 was Rs 1061.72 crores against which the collection during 2014-15 was Rs 1467.09 crores, signalling a jump of Rs 405.37 crores over 2013-14.
It may be noted that important departments such as steel and mining and commercial tax etc have not been able to achieve the targets this year.
