Kendrapara: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today provided financial assistance to the landless farmers under KALIA scheme in the second phase.
An amount of Rs 5,000 each will be credited to the bank accounts of around 5 lakh beneficiaries through DBT process under Rs 12,500-livelihood support category of the scheme. The landless farmers will receive a total of Rs 12,500 in three installments.
The financial support from the State government will help the landless farmers to make investments for their livelihoods.
Attending a mega farmers’ rally in Kendrapara district, Patnaik addressed over 2 lakh beneficiaries. He expressed his grief over the death of CRPF soldiers martyred in Pulwama terror attack.
He has been visiting various districts to attend KALIA programmes benefitting the beneficiaries identified by the State authorities.
Total 18 lakh beneficiaries have been shortlisted to receive monetary assistance under State’s most populous KALIA scheme in the second phase. More than 13 lakh farmers will be provided money in the second phase. Additional five lakh beneficiaries are eligible to get assistance for livelihood support under the scheme.
Notably, the State government has transferred Rs 5,000 to 12.45 lakh farmers under the scheme in the first phase. The beneficiaries will receive a total of Rs 25,000 financial assistance in phases.
