Polling was delayed in some parts of Odisha as the electronic voting machines (EVMs) in several booths went out of order during the second phase polls that began this morning.
While tension ran high in booth no-259 due to the defective EVM, polling was delayed in booth no 144 as the polling officials had to replace the EVM after it went out of order.
Reports from Nayagarh district said the EVMs went out of order in most of the booths in the Bhapur block.
Similar instances were noticed in Khandapada constituency as the EVM went non-functional at booth no 132 at Kainphulia.
While the EVM conked out at Dhanachangada booth no 132, at Marada, the EVM went out of order at booth no 124 at Marada.
In Bhubaneswar, the EVM went out of order at booth no-103 in the Bhubaneswar-Central constituency while polling was delayed as the polling agents turned up late at booth no 144.
Besides, the EVMs went out of order at booth no-105 at Radhakishorepur, 160 at Chakradharprasad and 19 at Pankala in Athagarh constituency.
In Jajpur district, polling was delayed as the EVMs went out of order at booth no 194 and 196 at Badachana, booth no-106 at Korei, the reports added.
In Kendrapara constituency, the EVMs at booth no 112 at Kendrapara and 168 at Mahakalapada also went out of order while similar problem was found at booth no-90 at Brajamaharajpur in Khordha district and booth no 249 at Chandrasekharprasad in Dhenkanal district.
