Odisha polls: Miscreants damage EVM in Gajapati

Tension ran high at Badakuturu village of Gurandi panchayat in Odisha’s Gajapati district after a group of miscreants damaged the electronic voting machine (EVM) in booth number 247 this morning.

According to reports, the incident was a fallout of a group clash between two groups of the village under Gurandi police station limits.

A special team of police from the district headquarters which rushed to the spot nabbed one G.Shankar Rao of Badakuturu  for allegedly damaging the EVM, sources said.

Polling resumed after the damaged EVM was replaced.

  1. G.Shankar Rao, S/o G. APPA RAO of Village Badakuturu under Gurandi PS of Gajapati district who has allegedly damaged the EVM in booth number 247 of Badakuturu, has been arrested. The damaged EVM was replaced promptly and the polling is going on smoothly.
