Bhubaneswar: The final voters’ list for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly polls in the state will be published on January 21, informed Surendra Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer today.
Addressing a press conference here, the official said that January 4 was the date scheduled earlier for publication of the final voters’ list. However, the State Election Commission had sought an additional time period of 15 days from the Election Commission of India for the purpose, which was granted, he said.
Kumar further informed that first-level checking of all EVMs/VVPATs will be completed by January 25. This apart, special drive (mock polling) to create awareness among voters over EVMs/VVPATs will start across 147 assembly constituencies from January 7, he said, adding that training of poll officials at all levels will be completed by February 25.
“As many as 12,08,396 numbers of Form-6, 6,47,486 Form-7, 4,59,420 Form-8 and 55,293 Form 8 (A) have been received by the State Election Commission and disposal of 99.95 per cent of those was completed by yesterday,” Kumar said.
