Bhubaneswar, Mar 24:
Samata Kranti Dal candidate in the Hinjili Assembly constituency Rabi Rath today urged the chief electoral officer (CEO) to reject the nomination of Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik for not furnishing details of cases pending against him in the affidavit submitted by him.
“A criminal case is pending against the chief minister, who has filed his nomination for Hinjili constituency, bearing FIR No. 418 dated 28 December 2010 at the Capital police station relating to the prevention of insult to National Honour Act 1971. The pendency of criminal act is well within the knowledge of the chief minister,” said Rath.
However, the case has not been mentioned in the affidavit furnished before the returning officer, he said.
“He may be called upon to give further affidavit in this regard and if he (Patnaik) fails to file the affidavit, his nomination is liable for rejection,” said the Samata Kranti Dal candidate.
