BJD Rajya Sabha MP Dilip Tirkey, Kalikesh Narayan Singhdeo and Bhartruhari Mahatab- both sitting BJD MPs, Congress MP Bhakta Charan Das and several Odisha ministers were among 107 candidates who filed their nomination papers today for Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in the state today, official sources said this evening.
While Tirkey filed his nomination for Sundergarh (ST) Lok Sabha constituency, Kalikesh Narayan Singhdeo (BJD) and his sister-in-law Sangeeta Singhdeo (BJP), a former MP filed their papers for the Bolangir Lok Sabha constituency.
In Ganjam, Ram Chandra Panda (BJP) and Ali Kishor Patnaik ( CPI-M) filed their nominations for the Berhampur parliamentary seat. Senior CPI-M leader and party’s politburo member Sitaram Yechury was present during the filing of nomination of Patnaik.
Women and child development minister Usha Devi (Chikiti), Pradip Panigrahi (Gopalpur), R,Ch Chyaupatnaik (Berhampur), Rural Development minister Bikram Keshari Arukh ( Bhanjanagar) –all BJD-, and sitting Congress MLA Ramesh Chandra Jena (Sanakhemundi filed their nominations
Sitting BJD MP Bhartruhari Mahatab filed his nomination for the Cuttack parliamentary constituency while former MP Kharabela Swain of Utkal Bharat filed his papers for the Balasore Lok Sabha seat.
In Kalahandi the sitting Congress MP Bhakta Charan Das and BJP’s Pradipta Nayak, former minister too filed their papers
As many as 69 nominations had been filed for the twin polls in the state till Thursday.
