Crime Branch of Odisha police are learnt to have unearthed more properties possessed by Ponzi firm Oscar Group chairman Prabhas Chandra Rout.
According to sources, the Crime Branch sleuths have ferreted out vital information during interrogation of Prabhas Chandra Rout who is accused of defrauding customers to the tune of Rs 230 crore in Odisha, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Crime Branch Special DG BK Sharma today interrogated Rout on the penultimate day of the first phase five-day remand for nearly 90 minutes in the presence of Crime Branch IG Arun Bothra.
Sources said, the investigators have unearthed a bank account in a bank in Odisha capital have over Rs 1 crore deposits. This apart, the sleuths have found immovable property at five places in Gujarat. With this, the number of properties found in Gujarat till now has gone up to 19.
With the remand coming to an end tomorrow, the Crime Branch would seek a fresh remand tomorrow to take Rout on 5-7 days for further interrogation.
Notably, a four-member team headed by a DSP rank officer would leave for Gujarat and Maharashtra to probe into the matter.
Oscar Group had floated a chit fund firm in 2010 and had branches in Odisha, Gujarat and Maharastra.
Rout has produced about four Odia films—’To Akhire Mu’ (2010), ‘Most Wanted’ (2011), ‘Balunga Toka’ (2011) and ‘Rangila Toka’ (2012) under the banner of Oscar Movies and Entertainment Division
If sources are to be believed the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is likely to quiz the actors who had acted in the movies produced by Rout. Some of the Ollywood actors who acted in films under the said banner are actor and BJD Rajya Sabha MP Anubhav Mohanty, actor and BJD Lok Sabha member Siddhant Mohapatra, comedian Papu Pom Pom alias Tatwa Prakash Satpathy, actor and MLA Akash Das Nayak and Babushan.
