Commissionerate police would leave for Pune to interrogate the hoax caller and bring him to Odisha on a remand for further questioning if need be, sources said today.
According to police sources, Bhubaneswar Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma talked to his Pune counterpart over the issue. A team of the Commissionerate police would visit the cultural capital of Maharashtra in a day or two to interrogate the hoax bomb caller, Sanjeev Mishra. The team is likely to bring Mishra on remand to Bhubaneswar who has been arrested by Pune police yesterday for forcing diversion of a Mumbai-bound GoAir flight.
The caller identifying himself as Mohapatra had called up the terminal manager of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here yesterday morning at around 8.45 am and said that bombs have been planted on G8-243 Bhubaneswar-Mumbai GoAir flight and other flights leaving the city airport.
Following this, the GoAir flight was diverted to Nagpur and 155 passengers onboard the flight was deplaned for security check. However, no bomb or suspicious article was found on the plane.
After the relevant security clearances, the aircraft was permitted to depart at noon for the onward flight of the private carrier to Mumbai.
