Berhampur, Mar 13:
Berhampur Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court today allowed police to take former Odisha Congress Sanakhemundi MLA Ramesh Jena on a fresh seven day remand.
The police this morning produced Jena in the court after his five-day remand came to an end and prayed for an extension of the remand.
Cops, in their prayer, cited that further interrogation was required to unearth his links in various crimes and financial irregularities.
In a related development, the local police seized four vehicles belonging to his family and aides. The vehicles include two Mahindra Scorpios, a Toyota Innova and a Volkswagen Jetta, said a police official.
They also have found out that the bullet proof Lexus seized on Friday has not been registered so far.
Notably, two new cases including an attempt to murder and a murder case were lodged against Jena in two different police stations of Ganjam. The police have formed two teams — one to raid and arrest Jena’s associates and the other to look into his financial empire as we reported here.
