Further, the Orissa High Court today allowed the police to handcuff D-brothers subject to certain conditions.  The court allowed the police to handcuff the accused when taking them out for investigations leaving it to the decision of the accompanying police officer which is subject to scrutiny by the court.

“We had moved the High Court seeking permission to handcuff them. The High Court has today ordered that the investigating officer taking them outside for investigation purposes if he so feels that it is necessary can handcuff them but his action will be open to scrutiny by the court,” the Twin City Police Commissioner informed.

The police took the D-brothers on a five day in the fourth phase. The police has also taken Debasish Kar, an aide of the D-brothers on five day remand. The police had sought fresh remand of D-brothers and their aide Debasish for further investigations in the Om murder case.
