Bhubaneswar, Jul 29:
Commissionerate Police today filed a petition in the Khordha District and Sessions Judge court here seeking to take Rajendra Barik alias Raju, the prime accused in the sensational Dillip Nayak murder case near Patrapada on the outskirts of Odisha’s capital city on June 18, and his elder brother Jaya Barik, on a two-day remand for questioning in connection with the murder case.
The police would question Barik and his brother about intention behind the killing the Dillip, whereabouts of other associates, sequences of the committed crime and the person fired the bullets at the deceased.
A special team of Commissionerate Police had arrested Barik from the backyard of a relative’s house of the accused in Khandapada of Nayagarh district late on Monday night.
Barik has been sent to Jharpada jail here yesterday after a local court rejected the bail petition of the accused.
Meanwhile the police team have launched a manhunt to nab the other 22 accused involved in the case.
Police have so far arrested four persons, including Raju and his elder brother Jaya Barik in the murder case.
It may be noted that the 35-year-old contractor Dillip Nayak was shot dead by rival Raju’s group near a construction site behind the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Patrapada under Khandagiri police station on June 18.
