The Commissionerate Police in Odisha today recovered Rs 3 lakh in cash from the house of Manoj Sahoo (22) who was arrested yesterday from Unit-IV area under Kharvela Nagar police limits on charges of allegedly trying to loot the ATM counter in the Oriental Bank of Commerce, BDA branch.
The cash, which appears to have been stolen from different ATM counters, was recovered from Sahoo’s rented house at Saptapadi Nagar under Mancheswar police limits.
Apart from Rs 3 lakh, Police also have also Rs 15,000 in cash, one Indigo car, two motor cycles and four bank ATM cards from Sahoo’s possession.
The police have also nabbed one of Sahoo’s associates Rakesh Behera (21) of Athantara village under Balipatna police limits for assisting him in looting ATMs.
Sahoo was nabbed yesterday after Sudhansu Bhusan Mohapatra, an employee of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), who had come to withdraw money from the ATM counter at the BDA office premises here, informed the police about his suspicious behaviour.
Police said Sahoo, who hails from Polosara in Ganjam district, is involved in at least 50 cases of ATM theft in Bhubaneswar and surrounding areas and that they are also verifying 25 cases similar cases registered at different police stations in Berhampur city and other parts of Ganjam district against Sahoo..
