Odisha Police official suspended after ‘bribe’ video goes viral

Kendrapara: Several days after a video featuring Trilochan Behera, IIC of Tantiapala Marine Police Station in Odisha’s Kendrapara, receiving bribe from a youth went viral on social media, the official has been suspended.

District Additional SP Arun Kumar Jena conducted a probe into the matter and found Behera’s involvement in the incident after preliminary investigation. As per the direction of Central Range IG Soumendra Priyadarshi, Behera was suspended yesterday.

Notably, in the video that has gone viral, Behera is seen taking bribe of Rs 1000 in denomination of Rs 500 from one Nirakar Rout of Radhiha village. The police official is also seen keeping the amount inside his pocket after receiving it from Rout.

It is suspected that a staff of the police station recorded the whole episode with a mobile phone and later circulated the clip.
