According to reports, the Special Squad arrested Prakash Nayak from his house at Jharana Basti here.

Notably, the mastermind of the gang— Suresh Gajendra— was on September 17 arrested following an encounter here.

It may be recalled that four robbers in the guise of tenants entered the house of an elderly couple at Gandamunda under Khandagiri police limits on September 5 and looted the couple at knife-point.

The goons had tied Shradhanjali, the wife of house owner Subash Prusty, a retired government employee, and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 3 lakh. Prusty was also assaulted during the loot. The criminals fled after Shradhanjali’s sister raised an alarm.

With today’s arrest, two members of the gang have been nabbed. Two others are still at large.
