According to reports, the Special Operation Group (SOG) personnel were on a combing operation on the bordering areas of these two districts today following a tip-off on the presence of some top Maoist cadres at the party’s state committee meeting inside Pangabaju forest near Lubenagada village under Madanpur-Rampur police station limits.

The SOG personnel, after closing in the area, suddenly opened fire at the Maoists to which the latter retaliated. Unable to sustain the attack, the Maoists managed to escape from the area. The SOG personnel later advanced deep inside the forest and destroyed seven Maoist camps and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

Till reports last came in, the search operation was on.
