Bhubaneswar, Dec 18:
Twin City Commissionerate police have formed a special team to investigate the mysterious murder of a student in Odisha capital in May this year, police sources said today.
According to sources, a special team headed by Bhubaneswar Zone-III ACP Tapan Pattnaik would investigate into the matter.
A day after Ashutosh Mohanty alias Rishi’s mother and sister demanded for a reinvestigation into the murder, Commissionerate police today formed a team to get to the bottom of the case which has created much hullabaloo in the political circles.
“An UD (unnatural death) case was registered in the case. Now, ACP Zone-III would probe the matter. Viscera report and the post mortem report would be examined. Relevenant persons would be called for interrogation. If needed, other persons might be summoned,” Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said.
Reports said that Rishi’s roommate present with him on the fateful day, his friends and his so-called girlfriend would be summoned for interrogation.
On the other hand, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has reacted to the allegations against Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena saying: “The allegations are grave if it has some element of truth in it. Rishi’s death has created doubts. Local investigators have not paid due importance to the case. Attempt was made to suppress the matter and the matter has resurfaced again after public outcry. Influential people are allegedly involved in the case. If it is not investigated properly then people would lose trust on the system.”
