The commissionerate police have planned to summon Chitra Athwani, the woman in whose name the room from where Deccan Chronicle group vice chairman PK Iyer was arrested was booked in Hotel Trident in the Odisha capital.
Twin City Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma said Chitra Athwani will be summoned and asked to to give her statement to the police in the case.
“During investigation, we have come to know that the room in which Iyer was living was booked in Chitra Athwani’s name. She also stayed in the hotel for sometime. We would summon Chitra to ascertain her links with arrested Deccan Chronicle vice chairman P K Iyer and why the latter had occupied the room booked in her name,” Sharma said.
The commissioner said the general manager of the hotel, who failed to appear before the police yesterday, and other hotel staff will also be questioned about Chitra Athwani and PK Iyer.
As per sources in the commissionerate police, Iyer had first arrived at the hotel with Chitra on February 14 at about 2 AM. They had stayed together for 10 days before leaving the hotel.
Iyer, however, booked a hotel room in the same hotel in her name and continued to stay.
So far, the police have have discovered that Mumbai girl Chitra works as an air hostess and shared a very good rapport with Iyer.
The commissionerate police are looking into the nature of relationship between Chitra with Iyer, the place they came from when they reached the city hotel at 2 AM and the reason she left Iyer after 10 days of staying together.
