Keonjhar, Mar 5:
Police today began probe into the alleged murder of a six-year-old boy in Khuntapasi village under Harichandanpur police station limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
The family members of the minor boy Sunil Kumar Sahu have alleged that he has been murdered by one Manoj Kumar Sahu (Papun) of the same village.
The body of the minor was found from a pond with throat slit and eyes gouged out last night raising suspicion of foul play.
According to the family of the deceased, Sunil had gone to tuition in the afternoon yesterday. However, he did not return till late in the evening.
His father Bhupati Sahu, who is a daily wage earner, had gone to graze his goats and returned home in the evening. When he enquired about his son, his wife told that he had gone for tuition and hasn’t returned by then. He grew suspicious and went out in search of his son.
Upon enquiry, he came to know that Sunil had not turned up for the tuition class.
After frantic efforts, Sunil’s body was found from a pond with throat slit and eyes gouged out.
Earlier in the day, Papun had an altercation with Bhupati following which the former had threatened to eliminate his family.
The family alleged that Papun has killed their son as he had picked up a quarrel with Bhupati.
“Papun has killed my son as he had threatened me to eliminate my family. He should be sentenced to death,” Bhupati said.
Following the incident, a case was registered with the Harichandanpur police and police have begun inquiry into the incident.
