Odisha police arrests Deogarh BDO on graft charges

Police today arrested an Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer in Deogarh for allegedly siphoning off funds under old age pension scheme meant for the senior citizens lying below poverty line.

Boden police arrested the Block Development officer (BDO) of Tireibani block Dharanidhar Nayak on charges of embezzlement of ‘Madhu Babu Pension Yojana’ funds to the tune of Rs 47 lakh.

While Nayak was posted as BDO of Boden block in Nuapada district, it was alleged that he had misappropriated funds to be distributed to the beneficiaries under the scheme.

Based on a complaint registered with Boden police in 2014, the cops today arrested Nayak from Deogarh.

The police, however, refused to divulge further details.
