Odisha police today arrested two persons for their alleged complicity in the broad daylight robbery of Rs 46 lakh from Godipada Toll Gate staff less than a fortnight ago.
“Nanda alias Chandan alias Santosh Kumar Routray from Jamusai under Begunia police station limits and Rinki Paikray from Jatni have been arrested today. We have recovered around Rs 5 lakh cash, seized mobile phones and a car from their possession,” Khurda SP Manoranjan Mohanty said.
“Rinki is a mistress of a criminal. During investigation, we have come to know that they were also involved in an earlier toll gate robbery of Rs 28 lakh. The gang is also involved in crimes in several districts and several cases are pending against them. They are involved in road robbery, dacoity, kidnapping for ransom and are wanted in several cases,” Mohanty added.
Notably, unidentified assailants had robbed four staffers of Godipada toll gate while they were on their way in a car to deposit cash in nearby Jankia branch of Punjab National Bank. The criminals waylaid them and robbed them at gunpoint on NH 16.
