Two other members of the gang were earlier arrested by police. While, Suresh Gajendra, mastermind of the gang, was arrested on September 17 following an encounter here, Prakash Nayak was arrested from his house at Jharana Basti here on October 1.

It may be recalled that four robbers in the guise of tenants entered the house of an elderly couple at Gandamunda under Khandagiri police limits on September 5 and looted the couple at knife-point.

The goons had tied Shradhanjali, the wife of house owner Subash Prusty, a retired government employee, and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 3 lakh. Prusty was also assaulted during the loot. The criminals fled after Shradhanjali’s sister raised an alarm.
