Odisha’s twin City Commissionerate Police today announced a reward on capture of gangster Shahjahan Khan alias Patu, who has been on the run after escaping police custody on March 5.
“Shahjahan Khan alias Patu is still missing and police have intensified their raids to nab him. We also encourage the denizens to cooperate with the police and pass us on information pertaining to him. We would provide Rs 5000 reward to anyone, whose information helps us catch him,” said Police Commissioner YB Khurania speaking to reporters today.
Khurania also stated that photographs of Patu would be pasted at key joints of the city to raise public awareness.
It may be noted that Shahjahan, who was under treatment in Cuttack’s SCB Medical College and Hospital after getting injured in a police encounter in Bhubaneswar, escaped police custody after he was shifted from surgery ward to orthopaedics for plastering of his ankle.
Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi on March 6 suspended six police men for lapse in duty following the incident.
