Bhubaneswar, May 5:

The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), which had said it would announce the results of the annual Plus Two examinations in Odisha in the last week of May, has now deferred the date to June 10.

“The delay has occurred as a large number of examiners have not joined the evaluation process citing a number of pretexts,” said a senior CHSE official.

He, however, said that the Council has decided to announce the Science results on priority by May last week as any delay would deprive the students, who had appeared in the JEE Main examinations, of ranks.

Meanwhile, embarrassed by the delay in the announcement of the results, the Higher Education department has asked CHSE officials to initiate action against the examiners who have withdrawn from the evaluation.

Sources said out of a total of 14,000 teachers called up for evaluation, 2500 had withdrawn citing various reasons. About 20 percent of the teachers called up for e-evaluation of Science papers have stayed away.

CHSE chairman Prof Basudev Chhatoi said plans are afoot to announce the results within the specified time frame.

“While some papers have not been evaluated till date, the Council has sent the evaluated papers to the concerned firm for preparation of mark foil and certificates. We hope to announce the results of the Science papers by the last week of May,” he said.

Referring to the congregation of large number of students at the CHSE office to apply for re-addition of marks every year, Chhatoi said the Council, has decided to introduce online application from this year to streamline the process.

“As per the decision, students applying for re-addition of marks, will have to log on to the website of the State Bank of India (SBI) and apply in the ‘SBI Collect’ section and deposit the fee online after which they would be provided with a form which they will keep with them. The fee for re-addition of each paper would be Rs 200,” he said.

After the re-addition is completed, the Council would either send the copy of the paper to the address of the students or upload it on its website www.chseodisha.nic.in from where the students can download the copy, Chhatoi informed.
