Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s fast bowler Basant Mohanty today joined the elite club of 300 wickets in first class cricket on the first day of the Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai at KIIT Stadium here.
Mohanty achieved the feat on his 81st match dismissing Mumbai opener Akhil Herwadkar.
With this, he became the second player from Odisha to take 300 wickets in first class cricket after Debashish Mohanty, the first player from the state to represent India in international matches besides being the first player to play in world cup.
Coincidentally, Basant had picked his 100th wicket while playing against Mumbai too.
KIIT stadium continues to be a lucky ground for him as he had taken a hat-trick against Delhi at the very venue two years ago.
