A procurement inspector in the Aska block in Odisha’s Ganjam district Aurobinda Kothari was Saturday suspended by the district administration for his alleged involvement in diversion of wheat meant for the public distribution system.
Collector P C Chaudhary, while cancelling the transport license of contractor Maheswar Parida of Aska, has asked the civil supplies officer to file a case against Sarat Mohapatra, the owner of a flour mill at Ralaba in Ganjam district.
Action against the two was taken by the collector following findings that the wheat seized from a flour mill at Ralaba was meant for public distribution system (PDS)and was diverted to the mill illegally.
Over 615 quintals of wheat was seized from the flour-mill during raids by Civil supply officials in the past three days.
The collector took the action on the basis of an inquiry report submitted to him on Friday.
