Bhubaneswar: Taking preventive measure to curb violence on premises of Utkal University, police today evicted hundreds of non-bonafide students from a hostel for alleged illegal occupation of the rooms.
The non-students illegally occupying hostel number 7 were asked to leave the hostel.
The action was taken on basis of the order issued by the Vice-chancellor of Odisha’s premier educational institution.
The Commissionerate police deployed four platoons of security personnel at the varsity campus to prevent any untoward incident following the eviction.
The move came in wake of a series of violent incidents between the students and non-students inside the campus in the recent pasts.
