Students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Odisha’s Rourkela today called off their agitation following a closed-door meeting between the students, teachers and employees in the presence of the institution’s director Sunil Sarangi.
Though the meeting arrived at a conclusion that there was administrative lapse but the students withdrew their agitation in the greater interest of the institution.
Similarly, it was decided at the meeting that no action will be taken against the agitating students.
Meanwhile, Rajesh Singh Solanki, under secretary in the Union Human Resource Development Ministry has arrived in Rourkela in connection with the NIT issue.
It may be recalled here that students had sought the intervention of the Ministry in the institution’s chief security officer’s sexual exploits issue.
The accused chief security officer Balaram Champatiray is on the run.
