The lecture focused heavily on thinking out of box to take the welfare schemes of the government forward and to the public.

“Without ideas, nothing will change. You have to start with the ideas, learn from your failures and move forward. There is a need to talk, a need to understand and a need to interact with the people in the field today. This is a part of good governance,” said Mor speaking to an audience that included Finance, Panchayati Raj, Food, Supplies & Consumer Welfare and Energy Ministers and Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi along with Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Special Secretaries of various departments and collectors of most district, who participated through video conferencing.

“I got some very good questions from the assembled audience. I was pleased to see that the collectors sitting in very remote areas were also involved in asking some very important yet very practical questions,” he added speaking about his experience of the lecture to the reporters.

Organised by Planning & Coordination Department of Odisha government, the series is intended at drawing expert advice into governance.

“This is a new initiative of the government wherein we would rope in eminent personalities for informal lectures and direct interaction with officers. The main purpose is to bring in their expertise to the government sector,” said Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi.

As per information provided by the Chief Minister’s Office, the knowledge hub series will host speakers such as Raghuram Rajan, Subroto Bagchi, Devi Shetty, Ramakanta Panda, Nandan Nilekani, Narayan Murthy, Ajim Premji and many others in the coming days, even though schedule of their lectures have not yet been made public.

The platform is aimed at facilitating a system for receiving concurrent feedback, counter view, course correction and will create a listening space for development planners and executors.
