The CRPF DG made the statement while on a visit to Maoist infested Koraput district today.

Mishra  said the number of para military personnel deployed in areas like Nuapada and Kalahandi districts was insufficient and more deployment was required in these areas. He said plans are afoot to procure new types of drones since the ones used by the CRPF have failed to deliver the desired results.

Mishra said since the Maoists are trying to reorganize themselves, the state police needs to be more vigilant.

“There is requirement in view of the insufficieny number of forces in Nuapada and Kalahandi. There is requirement but I am not in a position right at this moment to tell the quantum of forces that the Central government will be able to provide. We are using drones and we do send them here, but we are not getting the desired results. We are trying to geta  different type of drones. We have inputs of Maoists regrouping themselves. The state police has to be vigilant. Otherwise, they will be successful in their attempt,” said Mishra briefing reporters.

The CRPF DG was here on a visit to the 202 COBRA Battalion and held discussions with top officers of the CRPF.
