Puri, June 21:
Proceedings were stalled for some time marked by noisy scenes at the second Rath Yatra Coordination Committee meeting held in Odisha’s holy town Puri on Saturday as the administration remained tight-lipped over the issue of gross mismanagement during the Brahma Parivartan of the Lords.
Members at the coordination committee meeting objected to the mentioning of June 15 midnight as the date of Brahma Parivartan of the Lords in the agenda booklet of the meeting while the Brahma Parivartan took place in the afternoon of June 15.
Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Central) Bikash Mohapatra avoided a discussion on the issue citing that the date of Brahma Parivartan mentioned in the agenda was a decision of the temple managing committee. At this point members objected and created noisy scenes and the meeting was stalled for some time.
Excluding, Nabakalebara Infrastructure Supervision Committee (NISC) chairman Maheswar Mohanty and RDC (Central) Bikash Mohapatra neither the chief administrator Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) nor any minister attended Saturday’s meeting. However, no minister of the state government attended the meeting.
The administration appeared to be prepared to defend the state government for that reason, police personnel at two points on the way to the venue of the meeting-DRDA conference hall, checked entry passes of those going to attend the meeting.
There was heavy police deployment at the venue of the meeting. Generally, second meeting Rath Yatra Coordination Committee in the past ever had such elaborate security arrangements.
