Ahead of the world-famous Nabakalebara Rath Yatra in Odisha’s pilgrim town of Puri scheduled on July 18, the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today announced that it will launch Wi-Fi service along the Bada Danda (Grand Road) in the holy town to provide uninterrupted connectivity during the mega festival.
“We have provided cellular connectivity between Bhubaneswar and Puri by laying a new optical fibre yesterday. Besides, we have also kept a standby cable at Khordha and kept all base transreceiver stations (BTS) in Puri town under microwave link to ensure seamless 3G connectivity to our subscribers during Nabakalebara,” said Bijayananda Mishra, chief general manager (CGM), BSNL, at a press briefing here today.
He said the Wi-Fi service in Puri town will continue even after Nabakalebara.
Mishra said the BSNL has earlier provided Wi-Fi service at Taj Mahal and Konark temple under Adarsh Smarak Yojana.
