Odisha Government will deploy 45 platoons of cops to maintain law and order and traffic situation during the Nabakalebara Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri.
An IG, one DIG, four commandants, nine deputy commandants, 15 assistant commandants of DSP rank, 300 inspector rank officers and more than 300 rank officers of sub-inspector rank would also be deployed to supervise the crowd and traffic management during the Rath Yatra.
The cops are also using high-tech methods to monitor and update the traffic movement.
“We would update the up to date traffic related information, restriction and regulation in the website of Puri police (www.puripolice.nic.in), the android app of Puri police named ‘Puri Police’ and the Facebook page ‘Puri Rath Yatra Traffic’ as well,” said OSAP commandant IG Sanjeeb Panda speaking at a press conference in Puri today.
All those coming to Puri from Bhubaneswar side in four-wheeler vehicles will be guided through Malatipatpur and Konark Marine drive road to one the seven parking lots in Talabania. The return journey will be directed via central school, Balughat, Biraharekrushnapur and New Nabakalerara road to join the NH-203.
Similarly, those coming on two-wheelers will be directed to take right from Biraharekrushnapur and can park their vehicles at the parking lots of Jagannath Ballabh Mutt, by the roadside there or at the Masanichandi area. The return will be via the same route on NH-203.
Besides, the administration has arranged for passenger bus parking at the temporary bus stand near Talabania and their return journey will be directed via New Nabakalebara road onto NH-203.
