Bhubaneswar, Jun 29:
With less than three weeks remaining for the Nabakalebara Rath Yatra in Puri, the Odisha government today decided to deploy 280 doctors and 650 para-medical staff in the holy town to provide health services during the mega religious festival.
“Instructions have been given to these doctors and para-medical staff to join their duty in Puri from July 1 failing which departmental proceedings would be initiated against them,” Health and Family Welfare minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak told the media here.
He also said since additional doctors and para-medical staff will be deployed in Puri, steps have been taken to ensure that there is no shortage of doctors in the rural and urban hospitals in the state.
“Keeping this in mind, the department has decided not to grant leave to any doctor working in the three government medical colleges and hospital and all government hospitals from July 1 to August 1. However, in urgent circumstances, the doctors can go on leave with prior permission of the department secretary,” the minister said.
