New Delhi/ Bhubaneswar, July 7:
Odisha’s ruling party, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today criticised the BJP led NDA government for failing to check the rise in prices of essential commodities in the country.
This was stated in a press release issued today by the party’s leader in the Rajya Sabha Kalpataru Das.
According to the release, Das criticized the Union Government for its failure to check the price of essential commodities which is rising unabated.
He said while BJP in its election manifesto had assured the nation that it would check inflation in food items, it has compounded the problem by enhancing the price of diesel.
He also said while the railway budget is to be placed in the Parliament tomorrow, the railway Ministry has already hiked the fare and freight charges.
” The government should have taken the Parliament into confidence before the upward revision of the railway fare/freight,” said Das.
The BJD MP also termed the Modi government’s discussions with state government ministers, his suggestions for taking action against hoarders and black-marketers and proposed amendment to the Essential Commodities Act only an eyewash.
“While on the one hand, it has created a situation for price rise through hike in railway fare/freight, on the other hand it is asking the state government to take action on hoarders and black-marketers which is unfortunate,” Das’ press release said.
Demanding a rollback of the railway fare/freight revision, Das demanded the government should take Parliament into confidence and prepare a clear-cut road map to check price rise.
