Odisha MLA Pravat Biswal admitted to Capital Hospital

Bhubaneswar: BJD’s Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Pravat Biswal, who was arrested by CBI in connection with the Seashore Group chit fund scam, was admitted to Capital Hospital here last night after undergoing medical examination by doctors at Jharpada Special Jail.

Earlier, the central investigating agency, which had taken him on remand, produced the legislator before the CBI court here, a day before the completion of the remand period.

The court sent Biswal to Jharpada jail and directed doctors at the jail to examine him and shift him to the hospital if required as his lawyer cited certain health problems.

Following a medical examination, the MLA was admitted to Capital Hospital.

On the other hand, hearing on bail plea of Biswal will be held today. The bail has been applied for him on health grounds, sources said.

The MLA was under scanner over a land measuring 34 Guntha at Benapur mouza in Jajpur. Seashore CMD Prashant Dash had paid Rs 25 lakh for the land in cheques in April 2012, the rest amount was to be paid after registration. However, Dash had cancelled the deal later and wanted his money back, sources said.
