Bhubaneswar: A medical college and hospital will be established on the campus of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, an official source said today.
The Centre has approved the project which the premier technical institution had sought to accommodate the facility.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in a letter to the NIT-Rourkela Director, said the institution should submit application in this regard during 15th June to 7th July.
The permission has granted for establishment of a medical college by the Central government under section 10A of Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 on an application made for the purpose, the letter read.
Following this, the NIT-Rourkela authorities said the facility will greatly help the common people in and around the city.
“A medical college with all modern facilities will be set up inside the NIT campus and it will help the common people from the eastern region in providing the best healthcare,” said NIT-Rourkela Registrar SK Upadhyay.
