The latest offering in the iPhone segment ‘5S’, which was launched 15 days ago in the Odisha market, has seen more than a healthy response from consumers, Poddar said.
“We have only 25-30 pieces available with us against the gross demand of 200-250 sets,” he said.
The price of this iPhone model starts from Rs 55, 000 and cost higher depending on its memory size. Other models available in this high-end internet enabled cell phone segment include iPhone 4, 4s & 5c and the price range is upwards of Rs 25, 000 .
iPhone 5S is available in gold, silver and space grey variants in the Indian market.
“Apple’s iPhone is having its own Operating System unlike others which run on Android platform. It is going to be a volume driver in the coming days in the state ,” said Poddar adding , “there is a growing demand for iPhones in cities like Rourkela, Sambalpur and Cuttack .”
Talking of the future market strategy Poddar went on to add that the company is banking on buyback and easy zero-percent finance schemes which will also be made available to prospective Odisha customers very soon. “These facilities are alreadyavailable to customers in metros,” he added.
“Because of its excellent look with quality touch screen and a good resale value, people are switching over to this brand,” said an iPhone user.
According to a report by an international research agency, worldwide sales of mobile phones are expected to rise by 3.4 per cent and touch 1.81 billion units this year.
