According to reports, Sabyasachi Panda has been demanding he be apprised of the number of cases pending against him and produced regularly before the court during hearing, besides speedy trial of his cases.

“After failing to persuade him to take food, we admitted him to hospital as per the advice of the doctor,” a Brahmapur Circle Jail staff said.

The 47-year-old founder of Odisha Maobadi Party (OMP), however, was steadfast in continuing with the hunger strike despite his failing health condition.

It may be mentioned that the arrested Red rebel has been on hunger strike at least on four occasions in the last eleven months.

He was arrested from the Silk City last year on July 18. Since then, he has been in the Circle Jail here.
