Odisha man slashes tongue at temple to ‘appease’ deity


Keonjhar: In a bizarre incident, a youth turned critical after slashing his tongue inside Maa Tarini temple at Ghatagaon in Odisha’s Keonjhar district today with a belief of appeasing the deity for fulfillment of his wishes.

The victim, identified as Dasharathi Jena of Thakurmunda area in Mayurbhanj district, arrived at the temple this morning and slashed his tongue with a blade.

Some servitors of the temple rescued Jena, who was profusely bleeding after his act, in a critical condition and admitted him to Ghatagaon community health centre for treatment.

His condition became stable after a minor surgery at the hospital.
